Sedona Cliffs Engagement Photos at Cathedral Rock
Cathedral Rock will forever be an amazing choice for photos of any kind! Chandler and Lauren traveled all the way from the East Coast for their Cathedral Rock engagement photos in the heart of Sedona. They originally planned a weeklong adventure throughout Northern Arizona and Utah to explore the Southwest’s national parks; and when Chandler proposed just before their trip, they knew they had to celebrate with photos in the desert! And it doesn’t get much better than Sedona! 😉
Cathedral Rock is an iconic sandstone butte just south of downtown Sedona. In my opinion, the view during the hike upward is just as breathtaking as the view at the top. Pausing to catch your breath and take in the scenery is a must do during the hike. The rock overlooks most of Sedona and it’s an unreal view!
Chandler and Lauren have also graciously invited me to photograph their wedding in North Carolina next Fall at the Brown Mountain Beach Resort. This quaint wedding venue is tucked in the mountains of the Pisgah National Forest, the perfect place for their family to experience a getaway and celebrate their wedding! I’m truly excited to visit North Carolina and spend the weekend getting to know Chandler and Lauren’s family, all while documenting and sharing their story. Chandler and Lauren – let’s do the thing!

Pro Tip: Cathedral Rock is best photographed just before sunset. Be sure to bring headlamps for the hike down, as it may be dark! An alternative is to take photos about half way up about 1 hour before sunset. The sun sets behind the rock on the west side (as seen in the last photo) and provides shade.
