10 Apps I Can’t Live Without As a Photographer
I’m a sucker for the latest and greatest technology, especially when it comes to my phone. Here is a list of amazing apps I can’t live without.
1. Dark Sky
Dark Sky is an amazing weather app that I LOVE. It breaks down daily weather by the hour and specifies what kind of precipitation and how much your area will receive. It’s perfect for rainy wedding days because you can predict breaks in the rain and plan the day.
2. Rise
In Rise, you can search any location and date to find sunrise and sunset times. It also gives you a timeframe for “first light” and “last night.” I use this app regularly when I meet with couples to discuss wedding timelines and sunset portraits.
3. Evernote
I use Evernote for keeping all my notes, to do lists, projects, hashtags, and more – organized. There’s a desktop version that seamlessly updates with the phone app, so you can access anywhere.
4. Mile IQ
I waited far too long to finally download this app. It automatically tracks driving by categorizing each drive by swiping left (personal) or right (business). When tax season comes, you can print out an annual report. SO. EASY.
5. Honeybook
Honeybook is the client management software I use, she’s my own personal assistant. She keeps me organized, sends contracts, collects payments, and I barely lift a finger. She’s great!

6. Google Drive
This is a new one for me. Although I love google drive on my laptop, I found myself needing to access files on the go with clients or in meetings. The google drive app gives me the same access to everything already in the cloud. Isn’t technology amazing?
7. Sleep Cycle
Although not related to business, it literally helps me sleep at night. Sleep Cycle runs as you sleep, it tracks your rem sleep, how often you wake up, how many hours you sleep, etc. The alarm feature is the most unique aspect. The alarm is set for a 30-minute window to wake you up when you’re not in rem. So instead of being jolted awake from a deep sleep, you’re eased awake when you’re most rested. Dreamy, right?
8. Podcasts
It’s taken me a while, but I’ve finally gotten on board to podcasts. A few of my favorites include Goal Digger by Jenna Kutcher, Girlboss Radio, The Robcast, The Verbal Processors, and The Liturgists. I’d love to hear your favs, comment below!
9. Instagram
Well duh, I feel like I have to include Instagram. But really, I’ve made some incredible friends on Instagram and I’m always amazed at how it connects us no matter who we are, where we live, or what stage of life we find ourselves in. It’s magical.
10. Planoly
This app comes hand in hand with Instagram. My type A brain couldn’t do Instagram without it. It keeps my thoughts organized and helps me plan it all out!
I’d love to hear from you! What are your favorite apps!?
