Wedding Advice from Real Couples

Advice from real wedding couples

Wedding a planning can be wild, am I right? It’s easy to get caught up in the small details and forget the bigger picture. Don’t worry love, we’ve got you covered. We’re sharing wedding advice from real SGP couples. They share wedding do’s, dont’s, and their best wedding advice.

Wedding Tip #1

1 THING WE’RE SO GLAD WE DID
“Hire a wedding planner!!! It takes so much stress out of the day of the wedding. Neither one of us woke up with any worries the morning of and that was a great feeling. Also, something we preach is making your wedding your own! Don’t do anything because that’s what you’re “supposed to do.” Make your wedding a reflection of your relationship, not the wedding industry.”

1 THING WE WISH WE HAD DONE DIFFERENTLY
“There’s only one thing, we wish we had budgeted for a videographer, at least for the ceremony. The ceremony goes by so fast and you miss little moments that slip through your memory. It would be nice to have it on film. We LOVED not having anyone on their phones and we’re incredibly pleased with the photos we got without everyone’s screens in them but we wish we had thought of even just allowing one person in the back to video it on their smartphone or clip a phone to the chuppah. That’s our only regret from the day.”

Wedding Tip #2

1 THING WE’RE SO GLAD WE DID
“It is so important to stick with what you want. I am so glad I had a small wedding & wouldn’t change that!”

1 THING WE WISH WE HAD DONE DIFFERENTLY
“Something I wish was different would be to hire someone to set up the ceremony site, so that my husband and his family didn’t have to worry about it. They managed but deserved less stress regarding this piece of the wedding.”

Wedding Tip #3

1 THING WE’RE SO GLAD WE DID
“One thing I’m really glad we did was to choose 3 things we wanted the most out of the wedding, other than the venue. I choose 1 thing, my fiance choose 1, and then we chose the third together. That way, we could each pick something important to us and then come together to decide. It was fun and we stuck to it!”

1 THING WE WISH WE HAD DONE DIFFERENTLY
“I would say that it is worth it to invest in a wedding coordinator. I think that having someone you can meet with to share your vision and have them be the point person would have been a lot less stressful for me, my friends, and family on my wedding day. Having someone there to set up centerpieces and tables etc, as well as stay after and help clean up would have been well worth the investment. Also, a lot of venues have a staff to help clean up after the wedding, but mine didn’t, so my advice would be to hire a cleanup crew. Having people there to do the dishes, clear plates, and help pack things up would have helped out my friends and family a lot!”

Bonus Tip

Appreicate your spouse. When life gets serious and scary you need to know it’s going to be okay, because you’ll get through it together. There has to be that undeniable trust in order to depend on each other the way life demands. People these days take one another for granted too much and your spouse should know that they are the most important person on this earth to you. Appreciate your spouse for the person they are, all that they do, and for choosing to devote their life to you!
