I can’t remember not traveling. I honestly feel it’s a piece that has been very specifically wired into my humanness. There’s no getting it out of me. Moving to the United States was a travel experience of its own, and since then, my childhood has been full of adventures in new places.
The anticipation of arriving in a new, unexplored city is an emotion I can’t exactly describe. There are many unknowns when traveling to a new city, and sometimes even culture shock creeps in, but I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Most recently, I took a quick weekend trip to Seattle to photograph my friends, Jared and Vicki. They welcomed me into their home and gave me a wonderful first experience in the PNW. I’ll be sharing photos from their session soon, but here’s a peek at my time in Seattle. All I can say is, when can I go back?!
Seattle and coffee should be synonyms. I mean, they’re basically the same thing, right? But really, I had a cafe mocha that was beyond delicious (made with homemade chocolate sauce) at Storyville Coffee. This adorable coffee shop is tucked away on the second story and overlooks Pike Place. Vicki had a cold brew latte and I made her romantically stare at it for a photo. 😉
Vicki and I spent Sunday afternoon walking around downtown. Obviously we saw the ‘first Starbucks,’ but the line was hella long so we just waved as we walked by. Ain’t nobody got time for that. 😉
We did the tourist thing, saw the ferryboats, the pier, and toured the souvenir shops. Vicki is a walking Encyclopedia and became my personal tour guide throughout the day and gave me fun facts about the city!
While exploring Seattle, I got to spend time catching up with my friend Alex. We met at ASU and shortly after graduating, we both moved westward. I moved to SF and she moved to Seattle to work for Amazon. Yeah, you could say she’s pretty legit.
Alex has this RAD business called Chin Up Donuts. She creates the most unique and tasty homemade donuts I’ve ever had! Cactus shaped margarita flavored donuts.
Captain Crunch flavored donuts. ESPRESSO donuts.
I can get on board with that.
Pretty please check out her cute IG, you won’t be disappointed.

Seattle: Your coffee was delicious. Your weather was perfect and rainy. And your people were lovely.
I can’t wait to do it again!
